International training “How Forum Theatre works?”
An international Forum Theatre workshop takes place in Tallinn, 11-12th of April 2014.
Fascilitator Iwan Brioc:
This short training will introduce Forum Theatre to people new to the form but will also explore topics relevant to practitioners with more experience of the Theatre of the Oppressed techniques.
Sometimes we are so occupied with the techniques or the ‘activism’ that we loose sight of the fundamental aspects of theatre which Forum Theatre can utilise. These are properties with which we can engage audiences and explore the issues with unbound creativity and lateral thinking.
The training will seek answers to the following questions and more –
How does drama work in Forum Theatre?
What does it mean ‘to act’ in Forum Theatre?
What is the scenography of the oppressed?
What is the role of the oppressor?
What is the role of the Joker?
The training will require also that we look at personal experiences of oppression; so be prepared to share your own stories, although no one will be obliged to do so.
